BEAUTY AND COSMETICS WITH KHUTENGA

By Mavis Sekeli

Beauty? Yes, yes beauty! Who does not want to be beautiful, look beautiful, feel beautiful but mostly importantly, “stay beautiful”.

Both men and women are striving to be titled, crowned or associated with the term ‘beauty’ or ‘beautiful’ and as such have explored all possible ways to achieve this beauty. It has evolved so much going back in time as far 400BC. Traits of beauty and cosmetics have been traced from ancient Egypt, where makeup served as a marker for wealth believed to appeal the gods. The elaborate eyeliner characteristics of Egyptian art appeared on both men and women. Ok, now let us define the term beauty. Beauty is a combination of qualities such as shape, color or form that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight.

How can one be beautiful, you might ask? Well, beauty is mostly natural but can be enhanced to reach the desired look. The enhancements in this case are makeup and cosmetics. Makeup is the composition of something while cosmetics are the applications used to have the makeup done, meaning makeup is a cosmetic but not all cosmetics are makeup.

Let us dive deep into cosmetics for now. Specifically, there are seven categories of cosmetics and personal care products ranging from Oral care, Skin care, Hair care, Decorative cosmetics, Body care, Perfumes and Sun care. Cosmetics and personal care products are applied to the human body for the purposes of cleaning its appearance. Did you know that cosmetics are drugs? Well, cosmetics that treat or prevent diseases are also drugs. Products such as dandruff shampoo, fluoride toothpaste and antiperspirant deodorant are both cosmetics and drugs. A good way to tell if you are buying a cosmetic that is a drug is to see if the first ingredient listed is an “active ingredient”. The active ingredient is the chemical that makes the product effective. The manufacturer must have proof that it is safe for its intended use.

Make-up is an interesting venture or process to start the beautifying or beauty enhancing. I would like to pick on doing a face beat. From face primers, concealers, foundation, toners, powder and bronzers to eyeliner, pencils, eye shadow, setting spray, lashes, lip gloss and lipstick all these essential to achieving a great look with the help of instruments used to apply the products on the face.

Here is an interesting factor, all the products and everything mentioned above required to have a proper face beat are available on our site. Visit www.khutenga.com for all your beauty products / cosmetics and many more.
